Sandblasting is a mechanical process by which the surface of the product is eroded by means of sand jets and is usually carried out after the deburring phase.
Sandblasting is used to prepare the products for the following stages, including painting or galvanising, and in some cases it is also used to recover scrap pieces.

The abrasive used is composed of micro-balls of different shapes which can be of different materials; the most common are those in stainless steel, iron or glass. Based on the micro-balls chosen, different finishes are obtained.
Sandblasting can be applied to ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

S&G has two sandblasters:

  • a cluster sandblaster for medium-large batches, with a finish that varies according to the customer's choice of roughness;
  • a manual spray sandblaster, to have a finer finish on medium-small size products.
